This initiative is a joint effort started by a group of Kenyans in America and invites other Kenyans of goodwill to come on board and be part of the team to help mobilize resources in support of Kenyans affected by COVID-19. A survey carried out between April 20, 2020, and April 27th, 2020 revealed an urgent need for action in mitigating coronavirus pitfalls in the Kenyan community in America. Among other things, loss of income due to loss of jobs or being furloughed, loss of business, lack of proper PPE, and need for moral support influenced this initiative. Members of the Kenyan community who wish to be part of this effort are highly encouraged as there're no limitations.

Kenyans in America are a community, and we cannot hide our heads in the sand as if all is well. Some have revealed their struggle with anxiety that is being fueled further by the pandemic, struggle with food and housing as a result of loss of income, struggle with the virus, while some have had to deal with all these plus domestic violence above it all. Many expressed an urgent need for proper PPE for work and family use.
The survey painted a grim picture of Kenyans who have reached the end of their tethers and are crying for help having exhausted all their means. In a sample of 124 Kenyans across all US states, 71% of them are directly affected while 29% are not.
Acting as a bridge between donors/volunteers and the needy members of the Kenyan community in America, this cause will provide the momentum that will help us affect change together and mitigate coronavirus pitfalls as one community using data-driven models.

Any Kenyan living in the United States who can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they have been directly affected financially by Coronavirus. Also, anyone in dire need of PPE and moral support during the pandemic.
This will be determined and announced on this website weekly based on the number of cases received and resources available.
It is recommended that one does not apply for help more than once. One may, however, seek any other help offered by volunteers as often as they wish such as counseling, prayers, and moral support.
Donors will receive weekly newsletters OR text updates about all the accounts. Some of this information will also be shared publicly on this website. After the initiative is over, we will be ready and available to give our books of accounts to any concerned parties for auditing.
A person must demonstrate and prove the direct negative financial impact that COVID-19 has caused them. Priority is given to the sick with COVID-19 with no income, furloughed, or those who have lost business.
Kenyans around the world are suffering due to COVID-19. However, our capacity at the moment only allows us to fundraise for cases affecting Kenyans in the USA.
It is recommended that people only apply if they have a need. Priority will be given to those who have no income.
To apply for help, please fill out the fund's application form on this website. Applications will be considered based on information provided, please provide as much information about your need as possible and support it with paperwork if applicable. Due diligence will be done.
Applicants will need to prove their identity in the application. Thorough due diligence will also be conducted.
This initiative is for boosting Kenyans and their families affected by COVID-19. In this case, any family in the US that has a Kenyan in need could apply.
This initiative is short-term, and so there is no need to register it as an organization. To that end, the team of thirteen joint coordinators is being led by Thuothuo Anthony, and we have unanimously chosen Mukurima Muriuki as the custodian of the funds. Distribution and logistics are decided by all thirteen coordinators. The initiative's secretary is Lilly Richards.
We will not have a remainder. We will disburse all the money to needy Kenyans in the USA until the money runs out.
